Description With parents that originated in South Africa, northern gardeners can enjoy crocosmia's red flower spikes during the summer months without having to dig up or re-plant this herbaceous perennial which comes back nicely each spring.

  Morphology:
This corm derived plant sends up a tall stalk bearing sword-shaped leaves. Red to orange flowers are borne on branched stems during summer. Flower buds open from the base to the tips of the flower clusters.

  Adaptation:
Easily adapts to all soil types, and can spread if the soil is worked around established plants.
