Description Hollywood juniper is named for its growth and distribution in the city of Los Angeles where it is known for twisted, upright green growth that can be especially attractive against light colored homes. The crown of this plant varies considerably.

  Morphology:
This coniferous shrub is considered fast-growing, and can attain a height and width of 15’ by 10’ respectively at maturity. It features upright twisted branches which bear scale-like, vivid green foliage which forms tight, bunchy clumps of needles.

It is often said to have an artistic appearance with its rustic, twisted form. It is often used in Japanese garden plantings.

  Adaptation:
This juniper variant does best in full sun and has very good heat, wind, and salt tolerance. It needs well drained soil to do its best. In the landscape trade it is often planted near the foundation of homes or along a fence. It is also used in Mediterranean style gardens.

  Pests:
No major pests in the Pacific Northwest.
