Description The cultivar Pfitzer juniper ‘Gold Coast’ was first introduced by Monrovia Nursery as a low compact, spreading gold foliage ground cover that looks especially nice during the darker days of winter.

  Morphology:
Gold Coast Juniper is a spreading evergreen ground cover that grows to 3’ tall but can spread to 5’ wide at maturity. It features scale like adult foliage with awl-shaped juvenile foliage. The foliage is lacy in appearance.

  Adaptation:
This species is easily grown on average, well-drained sites. It is considered drought tolerant once it is established. Avoid wet sites as it prone to root rot. It requires full sun for optimal growth. In the landscape, it is used as a foundation plant around structures or as a low growing hedge. It can also be massed on a hill side to prevent soil erosion.

  Pests:
None reported.
