Description Gold Rush Dawn Redwood is sold in the landscape trade as a fast growing deciduous conifer with beautiful golden foliage.

  Morphology:
This species grows very fast when it is young attaining a height of 10 feet or more in the first 10 years and eventually can reach to over 100 feet. It retains it's light green to golden needle color all summer long before turning orange brown in the fall. Needles are shed in November. The following spring signals the start of new growth that emerges a chartreuse yellow color.

Needles are arranged in an opposite fashion on the branches and are .5 inches long.

The bark is interesting on this deciduous tree, with deep fissures, giving it winter interest.

  Adaptation:
Though this species will survive on almost any site, it prefers the ones that are moist.

  Pests:
None reported.
