Description The False Aster cultivar 'Shogun' is noted for its lance-shaped green leaves with wide creamy white margins.

  Morphology:
This herbaceous perennial grows in a mound 1’ tall and 3’ wide. It offers variegated green and grey mottled foliage that will add interest to any herbaceous perennial bed. A wide creamy-golden margin blends to the edge of the cut-leaf foliage.
Blooming starts in early fall, consisting of 12” long stems which produce light lavender aster-like flowers with a yellow centers.

  Adaptation:
This aster variant is best suited to partial shade sites to ensure that the brightest variegation occurs. Under full sun conditions the foliage can burn. Variegation will fade a bit as summer progresses. Pinching back in summer will encourage new variegated growth. It does well on a medium to wet planting spot.

This plant is attractive to bees, butterflies and/or birds.

  Pests:
None reported.
