Description The Hinoki False Cypress cultivar Blue Feathers retains its soft juvenile foliage into maturity but adds an upward twisting growth habit revealing a distinctive bluish underside. Also known as Ivans Column Hinoki False Cypress.

  Morphology:
This slow growing garden conifer may eventually attain a height of 12' and a spread of 6’. Nonetheless it only puts on 2”-4” per year. A 10 year old plant may only be 8” in height. The American Conifer Society would call this selection a dwarf. Their definition includes those cultivars which grow 1” to 6” per year.

The foliage is light and airy and somewhat fluffy in appearance. A mature specimen will achieve a nice conic wedge shape. It can be used as an accent plant or grouped together.

  Adaptation:
As with other Hinoki Cypress cultivars, this one prefers moist, well-drained soil in full sun or light shade. It will do its best on acidic sites.

  Pests:
None reported.
