Description Crown Imperial is a bulb lover’s favorite as it displays vibrant bell shaped flowers in a multitude of warm colors atop a 3’ long stalk.

  Morphology:
Crown Imperial is a bulbous perennial with whorls of lance-shaped light green leaves. In late spring, it sends up tall stalks which bear flower heads consisting of umbels of 3 to 6 bell-shaped, pendent red flowers crowned with a cluster of upright leaf-like bracts. Flowers can also be bright yellow or reddish-orange.

  Adaptation:
This species needs fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. Plant bulbs four times their own depth. The hollow-centered bulbs do best planted on their sides and surrounded with sharp sand.

Parts of this plant are poisonous if ingested.
