Description With its bold and highly quilted leaves, Rodgersia is a must have for the gardener with a shaded, moist site. Also known as Rodger’s Flower.

  Morphology:
This is an herbaceous perennial that can grow to 4’in height, with an equal spread. It features pinnately compound, basal leaves which appear palmate (horsechestnut-like) from a distance. Each leaf has 6-9 leaflets (6-8" long).
Flowers appear in late spring. They are creamy pink to red in color, resembling those of astilbe. Flowers heads are held 3’4’above the leaves below.

Foliage turns reddish-bronze in late summer.

  Adaptation:
This plant prefers deep rich organic amended soils, with supplemental summer irrigation. It does best in partial sun, though it can take sun if it's planted near water. This is an ideal garden selection for use along a stream.

  Pests:
None reported.
