Description Snowmound Nippon spirea is a small ornamental shrub grown for its beautiful late spring floral display. White flowers (1” in diameter) completely cover the limbs, like a mound of snow.

  Morphology:
Leaves are blue-green in color, alternate, elliptical to narrowly obovate, about 1" long, with essentially no petiole. Leaf margins are sparsely serrated or notched at the apex of the leaf blade.

May is the month when Snowmound excels as an abundance of pure white, bowl-shaped flowers literally smother the leafy shoots.

  Adaptation:
This plant does best in full sun to partial shade, in moist well-drained soils. It is considered tolerant of poor soils, heat, and heavy pruning to keep it in bounds. Use in a border or as an accent.

  Pests:
No serious insect or disease problems.
