Description This East coast native bears small fuzzy flower heads that resemble a kitten’s toes, hence the common name pussy toes.

  Morphology:
This a evergreen gound cover that bears leaves which are borne in a rosete, with each leaflet appearing spatula-shaped (broadest toward tip). They are slightly more than 1" in length, but only 1.25" inch wide. The leaves are woolly grey and hairy. These plants spread by runners.

Over the course of late May through late July, flower stalks emerge from the rosette leaves. Stalks are 2”-12” long. The small flowers are surrounded by pearly-white or rose-colored bracts.

This plant is attractive to bees, butterflies and/or birds. The Painted Lady butterfly loves the flowers of this plant.

  Adaptation:
This plant needs full sun to prosper.
