Description This Mediterranean species is best recognized for its unusual whorls of soft yellow flowers and its large olive-green leaves.

  Morphology:
This is an herbaceous perennial that grows to 3’ in height and can spread out to 3’ in width. The leaves are heart-shaped, up to 8” in length, soft in texture and green in color. The leaves grow overtop one another creating weed barrier.

The flowers are pale yellow in color and are held atop the foliage beneath on a long stalk. Unless the stalks are cut down they remain over the winter providing further interest.

  Adaptation:
Jerusalem Sage will grow in light shade and likes well drained soil.
