Description The silvery blue foliage of the Sawara Cypress ‘True Blue’ seems to shimmer on a sunny winter day in the Pacific Northwest. An outstanding foundation plant for the conifer lover!

  Morphology:
This is a dwarf conifer that grows 2” per year up to 4’ after 10 years. It is more compact than the ‘Boulevard’ cultivar (C. pisifera). It can distinguished from the cultivar ‘Curly Tops’ by not having twisting foliage. Also the needles lie closer to the stem than other Swara Cypress cultivars.

With its slow growth rate this plant could be raised in a large container.

  Adaptation:
In cooler climates select a sunny location, with an acidic soil for best results. Make sure that the soil drains well.

  Pests:
Sawara Cypress is susceptible to root rot on poorly drained sites.
