Description This a native dwarf conifer found on the slopes of Mt. Rainier in western WA. The specialty wholesale nurseries in the Northwest will stock this plant for distribution to the upscale garden center.

  Morphology:
With its spreading habit the Mountain Hemlock cultivar called Elizabeth features blue-grey foliage and a wide spreading habit. Mature specimens will attain a height and width of 4’ and 6’, respectively. The braches appear as dense radially-arranged bottle brushes.

  Adaptation:
Native to mountains along the Pacific coast, this cultivar will perform its best when given a site with good drainage, cool winters, and moderate summers. Find a site with full sun. One might use this selection in a rock garden, or near a water feature to mimic the mountains of western Washington.

  Pests:
No serious disease or insect problems are common to this cultivar.
