Description In the world of Lawson Cypress’s the cultivar known as Ellwood’s Pillar is best known for its uniform color and vertical lines. A perfect plant for the dwarf conifer collector!

  Morphology:
This is a dwarf conifer that only grows to 7’ in height and 1’ in width. The needles have a bluish ting over their grey green background base. The foliage is said to have a scaly feel.

  Adaptation:
This plant likes an acidic site that gets regular water during the summer. It prefers full sun, but could take partial shade.

  Pests:
Be sure that the site is well drained to help prevent root rot. The northwest native Port Orford cedar does suffer from root rot, and the cultivars selected from it suffer as well.
