Description With its tightly whorled needles and bright green foliage this prostrate Japanese yew makes a nice foundation shrub.

  Morphology:
This is an evergreen shrub that grows to 3’ in height and 5’ in width. The needles are sharp and slender.

This plant will resist the ravages of deer.
Fruits and foliage are generally poisonous if eaten, but not dangerous to handle.

  Adaptation:
This plant can be grown in full sun or partial shade. The needle color will be lighter with higher light levels. It does like a well drained site, that has been enriched with compost.
It is considered to be tolerant of summer heat.

  Pests:
Generally pest free in the the Pacific Northwest.
