Description 'Ogon Janome' is a compact, slow growing variegated Japanese pine. The needle color is blue-green with bands of yellow. When viewed from the branch tips, the yellow pattern resembles an eye.

  Morphology:
This is dwarf conifer that forms a broad upright cone that attains a height of 8 feet and a width of 6 feet at full maturity. This type of growth will only occur in northern latitudes on well drained acidic soil. Needles are born in bundles of 5.

  Adaptation:
'Ogon Janome' can be grown in full sun, but partial afternoon shade is best. However, too much shade results in a leggy plant with less color.
