Description Japanese White Spirea is often used in mass plantings as it sets a profusion of white showy flowers during the summer.

  Morphology:
This is a deciduous shrub that grows to 3’ in height and equal width. It forms a rounded dense shrub. The foliage consists of lanceolate leaves that are 2”-3” long. They have distinctive serrated edges. The flowers are born in flat topped corymbs.

Fall leaf color is red, though it is not considered all that striking.

The flowers attract butterflies.

  Adaptation:
This is tough plant that can grow in a wide array of soil types as long as it has full sun and good drainage.
