Description As a weeping form of the Eastern Redcedar that grows on the East Coast of the United States, the cultivar 'Pendula' features light green foliage.

  Morphology:
This is an evergreen conifer that is generally is classified as a dwarf. The eventual height will depend upon whether it has been staked early in its life. If it has not it will form a ground-cover variant that will creep along the ground or can be left to cascade over a wall. The plant will develop an open habit.

Note that the literature also states that this cultivar can grow to heights of 30’, so clearly there is confusion in the trade over its name. The picture here is from a creeping plant at the Oregon Garden in Silverton Oregon.

Silvery blue pollen cones form in summer.

  Adaptation:
A tough plant that is drought tolerant . It will need full sun to perform best.

  Pests:
None.
