Description This is an interesting dogwood variant featuring yellow flowers in the early spring and bright red oblong cherry like fruit during the summer months.

  Morphology:
As a small garden tree Coreliancherry Dogwood grows to 25’ in height and 15’ in width. The leaves are simple and arranged in an opposite fashion. Prominent veins run the entire length of the 2.5”-5” long leaf blades.

The leaves have only mild red color in the fall.
Yellow flowers appear very early in the spring, before the leaves emerge. The flowers resemble those of forsythia.

The Romans were reported to have used the fruit to make jams and jellies. The birds find the fruit very attractive and edible as well.

  Adaptation:
This tree does well on most soil types. While normally planted in full sun, this tree can take some shade.

  Pests:
No serious pest issues.
