Description This cultivar of Japanese cedar is known for its fine branches which grow in an irregular, spiral fashion, twisting wormlike in all directions.

  Morphology:
This tree dwarf Japanese cedar features awl-shaped needles, spirally arranged, on thin limbs. Needles are 1/4” to 3/4” long and light green in color. The tree has a naturally conic wedge shape, growing to a height 6’ over time, albeit at a rate of only 2”-4” per year. The foliage will take on a reddish color in the winter.

  Adaptation:
Does best on well-drained, moist, acidic soil, in a site protected from winter winds. It can withstand some shade. No pruning is necessary.
