Description
This Hinoki cypress cultivar is prized for its yellow threadlike foliage set against red barked stems.
Morphology
:
Forming an upright, broad tree, this dwarf conifer (less than 6’ at maturity) features bright golden yellow ends which often develop club shaped "cockscombs" at the very tip of each threadlike strand. Lemon Twist develops a very curious, mounding and almost weeping growth habit as the plant reaches maturity.
Adaptation
:
Hinoki false cypress is used to extreme heat and humidity in its natural environment of Japan and Taiwan. It will do better on the west sides of the Cascades where the season is milder. Once established Hinoki cypress does well on a wide array of sites.
Pests
:
None reported.
