Description As herbaceous perennials which come up from tuberous roots, Peruvian Lilies form a bouquet of beautiful azalea-like flowers on tall, leafy stems in summer. Flowers can be cut for indoor display.

  Morphology:
Green strap-like leaves are classified as resupinate, that is, they twist from the base so that what appears to be the upper leaf surface is in fact the lower leaf surface.

  Adaptation:
Plant after danger of frost in cold climates. In areas west of the Cascades plants over-winter well without having to be dug up or mulched. Their roots are brittle, thus making it hard to move an established plant. Dead-head spent flowers to extend the bloom.

  Pests:
None.
