Description While lungwort is one of the earliest perennials to bloom in the spring it is also prized for its spotted leaves which resemble a diseased human lung.

  Morphology:
This is an herbaceous perennial which grows to 18” tall and spreads to 24”. It features a basal clump of large, green leaves with silvery blotches, which can grow to 12” long.

Funnel shaped flowers come in whites, reds, and blue-pink.

  Adaptation:
Lungwort prefers partial or complete shade in order to prosper during the heat of the summer. I does best on rich, humus amended soil that is kept moist.

  Pests:
Watch for slugs and snails.
