Description Frilly Bergenia is considered one of the best of the bergenia groundcovers with its large glossy green leaves and pink flowers.

  Morphology:
In the maritime Northwest Frilly Bergenia spreads out as an evergreen groundcover to a height of 1’ with leaves which are 12” across. Leaves are round in shape and generally light green in color.

Pale pink flowers on 6" stems are flushed with rose in spring and summer.

  Adaptation:
This species does best in full sun or light shade in most soils but prefers a deep fertile soil that does not dry out fully. The leaf color is best when plants are grown in a poor soil in a sunny location. This ground cover is best used under shade of deciduous trees where it is allowed to spread out.

  Pests:
Slugs can be a problem, though a minor one.
