Description This tuberous perennial is grown for it’s large, glossy, spear-shaped leaves in spring and vivid red berries in autumn.

  Morphology:
Lords and Ladies grow to a height of 1 foot with a width of 2’. Leaves are arrow-shaped and mottled & veined with silvery white. Foliage is evident in the winter, spring and again in the fall.

Flowering occurs in the spring. Each flower consists of a pale green/cream spathe surrounding a pencil-shaped spadix of tiny flowers. Flowers morph to a large cluster of red berry-like seeds. Care should be taken when handling the berries as they contain calcium oxalate crystals.

  Adaptation:
This plant does best in partial to full shade.
