Description Gracilis Hinoki cypress is widely sold in the Northwest‘s ornamental nursery trade for its open-branched narrow pyramidal form with gracefully arching branchlets.

  Morphology:
This species is a slow-growing conifer that typically attains a height of 8`-15` but only 6` wide. Needles are deep green in color. In the spring new growth is reddish. Over the summer months the foliage consists of curled sprays. Branches are outspread and arching and usually somewhat irregular.

  Adaptation:
For optimum growth this species needs full un-interrupted full sun. This cultivar is can be arranged in rows to form a screen or a sheared hedge. Because of its narrow stature it is often planted close to buildings. Select a site with well-drained soil and acidic pH.

  Pests:
None reported.
