Description This Hinoki Cypress cultivar is recognized for its golden-yellow foliage which darkens to emerald-green as it matures, giving this garden conifer a bronzed-orange color in the winter. It has an open, tiered habit with tight fans of growth, slightly curled at the edge and dotted with small, spherical cones late in the year.

  Morphology:
This small garden conifer can attain a mature height of 15’ with a spread of 8’ after many years. First introduced by a nursery in New Zealand in 1984 (Davis and Duncan), this golden foliage cultivar is classified as a faster growing plant than its sister ‘Aurea Nana’. The bright lemon yellow foliage lays over emerald green and gold interior sprays producing a pleasing 2-tone effect.

  Adaptation:
As with other Hinoki Cypress cultivars, this one prefers moist, well-drained soil with afternoon shade in the summer.

  Pests:
None reported.
