Description This selection is perhaps the most dissected, finely-cut Japanese maple on the market. It features deep purple-red leaves, turning to bright crimson in the fall.

  Morphology:
This a small deciduous tree that only attains a height of 5’ with an equal spread, growing in a pendulous fashion. The dissected leaves are very lacey, each having 7 distinct lobes. The purple red foliage color is retained all summer long, even when conditions are hot.

  Adaptation:
Does well on most sites other than for those which are poorly drained. In cooler climates this cultivar can take full sun. In the hotter regions in the Northwest it should be protected from the summer sun.

  Pests:
Verticillium wilt is the scourge of Japanese maples planted on wet ground.
