Description This columnar English Oak variant was introduced by J. Frank Schmidt Nursery in Boring, Oregon in 1989. It has tighter branching habits than the ‘Fastigata’ cultivar, though ‘Fastigata’ is even more columnar. This tree would make an excellent choice for small spaces where height is required.

  Morphology:
This is a deciduous tree which grows to 45’ in height and stays narrow at 15’. It has a narrowly conical to columnar shape, and a dense, medium texture. The leaves are 3-6" long, 2.5” wide and have 5-7 rounded lobes. They are dark green during the summer.

The green leaves turn to bronze in fall and some foliage remains during the winter. The acorns are elongated, oval and 1”-3” long.

  Adaptation:
This is tough urban tree that can do well under conditions of drought, air pollution and compacted sites that don’t allow a lot of root development.

  Pests:
Reportedly moderately mildew resistant.
