Description Castlewellan Gold is an extremely popular conifer with golden toned foliage. In Europe is commonly sheared to form a screen or tall clipped hedge.

  Morphology:
This is a very growing variant of poular gree Leyland Cypress that is so common in western Washington. The yellow foliage really sets this plant apart. If it is not sheared it will grow to a pyramidal evergreen spire to 80’ in height and 15’ in width. It has scaly leaves held in flattened branchlet sprays. One will observe that the foliage light green in the summer and golden yellow in the fall.

If it is not sheared it will produce brown female cones and ovoid, yellow male cones, 1/16-1/8 inch long.
