Description As a much shorter variant of the Northwest’s Western Red Cedar, Hogan Cedar is often used in the landscaping industry with its smaller size.

  Morphology:
This is a coniferous tree that grows to 40’ in height and 20’ in width. All through its life it features a symmetrical, columnar shape. The foliage will be very dense once the tree starts growing. Young plants could be sheared.

Leaves are scale like and green during the summer. In the winter the foliage is bronze.

  Adaptation:
Western Red Cedar is widely adapted to most soil types. Select a full sun site. For this cultivar landscapers often arrange it in rows to make a living hedge. It will do its best in cooler climates.

  Pests:
Free of serious pests and diseases.
